Now in its fifth edition, outHEAR New Music Week is an international symposium and composition masterclass featuring Klangforum Wien, performers from PPCM Graz, and a piano automaton. Mark Andre, Annesley Black, Dimitri Papageorgiou, and Orestis Toufektsis will be present as composition faculty members. The event will be held in Thessaloniki, a city with a rich cultural heritage but with relatively few opportunities for contemporary music. outHEAR therefore seeks to establish a consistent platform for new music in the region.
The 2026 edition will focus on chamber and solo works developed in collaboration with Klangforum Wien and PPCM performers. A new project will be introduced: the Piano Automaton Project, which incorporates automation processes in music composition.
Fellows will be selected by an international jury of eight members. Of these, 12 composers will be commissioned to write new works for mixed quartet, 10 for the piano automaton, 4 for soloist and electronics, 4 for solo music, and 4 for mixed quartet reading sessions.
outHEAR New Music Week 2026 is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
